Write for us

Honest Public Dispatch welcomes pitches that help readers notice how shared civic life works: a custom, symbol, ritual or public place explored with care and a clear point.

What we welcome

We consider explanatory pieces, thoughtful comparisons, historical background, close readings of public symbols and essays about the customs of gathering. Strong contributions make a specific subject understandable without claiming that one example represents every community.

A good pitch

Send a concise proposal that names the subject, the central question, the intended reader and why the piece is worth attention. Include the likely approach and any sources or context the idea depends on. Tell us if the proposal has been published elsewhere or sent to another publication. Do not send confidential or sensitive personal information.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication. Please wait for a response before sending a complete draft unless one has been requested.

Our point of view

Public life deserves a closer look

We pay attention to the customs and spaces that can be easy to overlook. Small details do not tell the whole story, but they can give us better questions to ask.
